Managing director, Michael Jefferies discusses new legislation brought in to regulate cosmetic surgery

Following the announcement that the regulating body for UK doctors is bringing in new guidelines for cosmetic procedures, Michael Jefferies, managing director at medical negligence solicitors, Jefferies comments on the changes:

“We welcome the stricter guidance and see this as a positive change for the cosmetic surgery industry to ensure the wellbeing and safety of patients are put first.

After seeing an increased number of potential claims involving practitioners that are not medically qualified, combined with people being unhappy with the results, we expect the guidance not only to provide improved support for people whose lives have been affected by complications during surgery but to also reassure those considering treatments in the future that they will not suffer in the same way as so many have before.”
