Belfast Hospital Death After Man Falls From Window – Inquest Date Set

An inquest date has been set for October 2012 into the death of a Belfast man who fell from a hospital window, suffering severe lung and brain injuries.

Proceedings are expected to be undertaken against Belfast Health Trust by the man’s family for medical negligence.

A preliminary hearing in Belfast was told that the inquest was expected to take three weeks and that 38 witnesses were due to attend to give statements regarding the case.

The inquest date has been scheduled to start on October 9th, 2012.

An independent psychiatric report is currently being finalised ahead of the scheduled hearing and statements are expected to be given by patients who were in the same ward as the man, who fell to his death in October 2008 from the Mater Hospital in Belfast.
