CIRCUMSTANCES
Our client was working as a school caretaker. They were asked to remove a squirrel’s nest from a shed. They were given a set of ladders to access and remove the nest. The ladders were not high enough to reach the nest so the client used a nearby fence to give extra height. As they stretched to reach the nest a squirrel ran at the client causing the client to fall and suffer a back injury.
The client had not been given adequate equipment or training to remove the nest.
INJURIES
As a result of the accident, the client suffered back pain requiring 6 weeks of physiotherapy. The client terminated their employment with the school following the accident.

The claim was settled in August 2022 for £7,000. Of their experience in claiming with Jefferies Solicitors, the client said they had received a ‘professional service from beginning to end in dealing with my case’.
